Covered Porch Install In Salem

These homeowners decided they needed to remodel their back deck when their 1 year old toddler started walking barefoot everywhere. They also needed a shady solution for the constant sun in their backyard.

Professional Building Services did a design-build new 3 season room and open deck. The covered porch has big helical piles allotted to hold the roofload weight and regular size helical piles on the open porch section. The framing is Ground Contact Rated Pressure Treated Framing 12 x 16 covered porch and 12 x 16 open porch. We build a beautiful hip roofline to allow for a wider ceiling width and bigger 3 season room and matched the roofing shingles to the ones on the house. We installed all new beadboard ceiling on the inside with recessed lighting and a ceiling fan. The new Andersen storm door, screen system, and railings allow for a more open feel than installing a kneewall system.

We kept the decking and railing consistent in the 3 season room and open deck sections. We installed Trex Transcend decking in Tropical Spiced Rum with Trex Transcend railing in Vintage Lantern, white posts, black round metal balusters and deck lighting in the post caps. We also installed 2 riser lights in every other riser to emphasize the stunning cascading staircase. We used Trex Transcend decking fascia skirting and vertical PVC lattice with a double access gate for large children play tables on the backside. By far the coolest part of this project is the curved decking and railing! We use our own curving Trex oven, this is a super unique PBS differentiator. It takes expertise and training to operate these ovens, and we do so much curving it makes sense for us to have one of our own!
